The numbers
What a kiosk actually changes
5 min
from queue to key
Typical self-service check-in completes faster than a guest can explain their last name to a tired agent.
$42k
saved per year on staffing
One kiosk replaces the need for overnight front-desk coverage. Payback in under 8 months at most properties.
0
missed arrivals
Guests land at 1 AM and still check themselves in. No more "sorry, nobody is at reception right now" calls.
92%
guest adoption
When a kiosk sits next to the desk, nine in ten guests choose it — if they can see themselves avoiding a line.
Kiosk-mode flow
Four taps from sidewalk to key
Optimized for a guest with a rolling suitcase, jet lag, and a half-charged phone. Large touch targets. No keyboard required.
Scan booking
Guest taps "I have a reservation" and scans the QR from their confirmation email, or enters last name + arrival date. No typing — a pre-filled flow in 5 seconds.
Verify ID
Passport or ID card placed on the scanner. MRZ and NFC chip read simultaneously. Selfie camera captures the guest face for biometric match.
Pay or pre-auth
Contactless tap or chip insert for the card. Apple Pay and Google Pay accepted. Pre-auth holds for the deposit; outstanding balance charged in full.
Collect key
Kiosk encodes an RFID card and dispenses it from the slot. Or, the guest receives a digital BLE key on their phone — no plastic at all.

Why a kiosk
What a kiosk does that a desk cannot
Lobby ready in 5 minutes
Kiosk ships pre-configured. Plug in power, connect to Wi-Fi, scan the property pairing QR from your admin dashboard. That is the full installation — no field technician required.
24/7 unattended
Guests checking in at 2 AM no longer wait for a drowsy night auditor to find them in the system. Kiosk-mode handles every arrival regardless of the hour.
Frees your team
Front-desk agents stop being typists and start being hosts. Moves from transaction work to upsell, restaurant recommendations, and problem solving.
Handles arrival rush
Three kiosks in parallel will move 60 guests through check-in in the time a single desk would move 10. Standard at resorts and convention hotels.
ADA + accessibility
Lower-height mount option for wheelchair access. Voice prompts and high-contrast mode toggle on request. Complies with US ADA and EU EN 301 549 standards.
12 languages
Same multilingual engine as the online check-in. Guest taps a flag at the top of the screen or the kiosk auto-detects based on the passport country of issuance.
Kiosk mode
Locked down. Remote managed. Guest-proof.
A kiosk without kiosk-mode software is just an expensive computer that guests break. SwiftGuest ships the entire management layer — device provisioning, update rollout, crash recovery, and remote control from a single dashboard.
Locked to the check-in flow
Android and Windows kiosk-mode payloads lock the device to the SwiftGuest app. No home screen, no browser, no way to exit without an admin PIN.
Remote management
Push updates, restart, or take a screenshot from your SwiftGuest admin dashboard. A down kiosk alerts before a guest notices.
Crash-resilient
Watchdog process restarts the app within 3 seconds of any unexpected exit. Transactions are journaled — zero lost bookings if power dies mid-checkout.
Brand-controlled UI
Your logo, your colors, your attract-loop video. Idle screen plays a full-screen promo to passers-by. Converts curious guests into walk-in bookings.
Placement
Where a kiosk pays for itself
Hotel lobby
Placed between the door and the front desk. Captures walk-ins before they queue at reception. Good for 100+ room properties with heavy 3 PM arrival spikes.
Boutique entrance
Single kiosk inside a small lobby. Guest checks in, collects a key, and walks up the stairs. No staff needed after 8 PM.
Resort villa check-in hut
Weather-sealed outdoor unit for villa-style properties. Guest verifies identity at the main hut before the shuttle takes them to the villa.
Hostel common area
Multiple low-cost kiosks where guests can check in and self-allocate a bed. Saves the single overnight host from handling the 11 PM backpacker wave.
Airport hotel baggage-claim lobby
Late-flight arrivals hit the kiosk instead of a night-audit desk. Integrates with airline ID via passport scan.

Questions
Frequently asked
How long does kiosk installation take?
Five minutes. The kiosk arrives pre-configured with your property ID and logo. Plug into power, connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, scan the pairing QR, and the first guest can check in within the hour.
Does it work without staff present?
Yes. Kiosk-mode locks the device to the check-in flow. Guests scan their booking QR, verify ID, pay, and collect the key card — all without human intervention. Fallback to phone support is one tap away if needed.
What keys does it encode?
RFID and Mifare cards compatible with Assa Abloy VingCard, Salto, Dormakaba, Onity, and Kaba Saflok lock systems. A magnetic-stripe encoder is available for legacy doors. Digital mobile keys (BLE/NFC) can be issued instead of or alongside the physical card.
What happens to the data after check-in?
Passport images are encrypted at rest and uploaded to your SwiftGuest tenant. The kiosk keeps zero local copies. Data retention matches your property policy — configurable per country for GDPR, PDPA, and equivalent regulations.
Can guests pay on the kiosk?
Yes. Contactless EMV, chip-and-PIN, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and QR-based wallets are accepted. Transactions flow through Rapyd, Tranzila, or PayPal depending on your region. Receipts print locally or email directly to the guest.
What if the internet goes down?
Built-in 4G modem takes over automatically. Active sessions complete on cellular, and new sessions start without interruption. If cellular also fails, the kiosk caches the check-in and syncs when connectivity returns.
Can we white-label the kiosk screen?
Fully. Logo, brand colors, background image, idle-loop video, voice prompts, and the name shown to guests are all configurable from the SwiftGuest admin console. No SwiftGuest branding appears to guests unless you want it there.
Is it rentable or purchase-only?
Both. Monthly hardware-as-a-service from $199/mo including maintenance and replacement, or outright purchase starting at $3,900. Contact sales for volume pricing on multi-property rollouts.
